Percy was snoring.
Funny, Annabeth thought, as she stood as a shadow over his bed, that he would be sleeping soundly while sweet dreams remained stubbornly out of her reach.
She slipped off her cap and felt the familiar brush of her hair as it tumbled down her back. Its magic had returned since the Second Giant War had come to a closing. Athena had even apologized to her face for the mishap—a stiff, barely intelligible mutter, accompanied by an awkward handshake—but an apology all the same. Annabeth watched the faded white New York Yankees symbol brighten as she set it on Percy’s bedside table and it entered the circle of
Red and blue lights winked in Percy's peripheral vision. A whining siren started up behind him.
"Uh, guys?" Piper called from the back seat. "I think we're in trouble."
"Trouble?" Leo exclaimed, "The freakin po-po are chasing after us!"
And sure enough he was right. The police car was riding right on their tail.
Percy cursed and pulled the car over to the shoulder of the highway. It bumped over gravel and came to a stop.
"Nice going, Seaweed Brain," Annabeth muttered. Like it was his fault they had gotten in a high speed car chase with monsters just moments before. The police car cruised to a stop beside them.

Annabeth took one hand off the wheel and smacked the back of her boyfriend's head.
He snorted once then jerked awake. "Gah! What..." He rubbed his eyes. "We here already?"
She smirked. "Morning, Sleeping Beauty. You're drooling."
Percy sat up quickly and wiped at his mouth. Annabeth's grin widened.
"Guess some things never change," She told him and his face reddened. "Yeah, we're almost there. Road's about to get bumpy, so buckle up."

Poseidon laughed, his eyes dancing. "Of course not. But between you and me," he leaned toward Percy conspiratorially, "you are the bravest of the Seven. Well, you and Annabeth, at least."
Percy had never been comfortable with attention, and this was seriously pushing it. He stared down into his wineglass. (The kids had been allowed to drink for this special occasion, and Le

"I don't even like swimming that much."
"But you're good at it!"
"Well, yeah. But it's not my favorite activity."
"Just my luck I'd end up with a girl from the one cabin at camp that doesn't like swimming."
"Well, too bad."
"Wait, don't leave! I have a proposition."
"A proposition."
"Oh, now I have your attention. I'll make you a deal."
"Spit it out, Seaweed Brain."
"If you jump in and swim with me for a while, I will take you to any library you want to go to, anywhere in the city, and I promise I'll try my hardest to listen while you ramble on about architecture and a whole bunch of other things that don't in
